26 Aug, 2022

In today's article, we interviewed Jana Ernestová, the director of operations at WoodHouse, who will introduce us to the WoodHouse Lounge and its ecological solution to single-use plastics.

Hello Jana. Could you please introduce yourself and tell us about WoodHouse concept?

Hello, my name is Jana Ernestová, and I have been working in gastronomy for over 20 years.
I am in my 6th year working for Woodhouse in the Operation Director position. WoodHouse is a unique concept connecting a modern tearoom and lounge, offering a selection of unique hookahs and quality cuisine.
Tea products are among the most popular range of goods in our company.
The goal of Woodhouse is to change the mind about hookah smoking and embrace the concept of more modern teahouses.

How do you deal with sustainability in your company?

Sustainability is key to our concept. Therefore, even before the European Union directive on the ban on single-use plastics issuance, we started looking for quality alternatives for plastic products that our establishments use. At this time, we contacted Refork because it is the only company that uses waste wood for its products. We also wanted to support a local company.

You are one of Refork’s first customers and partners – how are you and your customers satisfied with its products?

Previously, we dealt with a higher financial price than the competition, but in comparison to product quality and sustainability, Refork won. Our priority is to provide the best possible service to our customers, which is why we chose this company for long-term cooperation. Our customers are delighted with the products satisfied and surprised that it is a domestic company.

You are one of the first buyers of hookah’s mouth tips. Is there currently some other sustainable solution on the market?

Yes, there is. Anyone who likes to smoke hookahs can get their own designer one, but these are incomparable in price with Refork mouth tips. In Woodhouse, we even considered making our wooden mouth tips, but the cost was too high. Refork uses waste wood; therefore, their solution more sustainable.

What are your plans for the future?

Our WoodHouse Lounge concept has been a great success in the Czech market. However, we want to expand to the foreign market and further develop cooperation with other ecological companies such as Refork.
